Ivómezeje

     It is a village in Hargita county, in Transilvania.in the North – East side from Zetelaka, it belongs to Zetelaka.It is situated 25 km from Székelyudvarhely(Odorheiu Secuisec), in the valley of the Ivó river, in the Western part of the Center-Hargita, at a height of 750 – 800 m the fastest way to reach the top of the1801 m Hargita, is from Ivo people who had climbed the top of the mountain wrote the names of the villages, or towns they came from with rocks. So we can find many Hungarian and Transylvanian settlements’ names here.

     Ivó is a boondocks, it can be featured in the following way: „There were accomodations for summer time, the husbandman moved there in the summers, for haymaking, cutting trees and after a while he got bored of moving around, so he remained here.”In Ivó you can meet traditional boondocks.

     The boondocks can be reached from the Zetevaralja crossing, along the way to the Madarasi Hargita. (8km).



     Anybody Who wants to visit a place, where they can escape from the crowded city, and get a chance to meet local hungarian people, enjoy silence and tranquility, can do so by coming here. It takes the guests out of the monotonous working days and they can maintain a stringent contact with their hosts and come to know their folk traditions, specialities, speech and other things they might be interested in. This place is characterised by the landscapes, and the natural environment, that had assimilated its surroundings to itself, and even determines the thinking of local people.

Accommodation and meal

     In Ivó you can be accommodated in houses without a host, for instance in houses named Irgo or in pensions . The houses consist of a kitchen, which is well-equipped, on the ground floor there is a living room with a dining room table and a sofa. A bathroom with shower, toilet and basin for handwashing. On the first floor there are two rooms and a toilet. In one of the rooms there are two beds for one person and in the other room there are three beds for two persons. The six houses can accommodate 42 guests.

     The yard around the houses is like a park, there is a place for relaxing and a place where you can roast outside. (marmite, grill).

     If the guests want to stay for 1, 2, 3 nights, they will pay 50 euro, if they want to for stay more nights, they will pay 40 euro.The price for the houses is available for seven persons, in the case of more guests the price can be discussed.



Programs

The registered programs can be modulated by the guests according to their expectations. Through the programs the guests can get acquainted with the local traditions. Registered programs: hiking, folkdance education, haymaking, programs in bands, playing house, music – dancing racketing, karaoke, gardening, reveal secrets of the traditional cuisine.

1.Folkdance education
     At the request of the guests, they can learn the local folkdance, they can learn the steps and can exercise the steps at the music – dancing racketing.

2.Haymaking
     This is a program for summer-time, the guests can try a part of agriculture. The hay is collected by people with forks and it is taken home by a haycart.

3.Programs in bands
     It is a program where the persons in the band get together in order to easily overtake the difficulties. These activities are very good for making friend. The program in bands contains different activities which can be organized inside or outside, it depends on the weather conditions. The activities depend on the age as well, because there are different programs for different age groups. This program can be useful for teams, because in a weekend the workmates can be shaked together so their spirit for work can take a turn to the better.

4.Gardening
     Through this activity the tourists can leave something special for the place where they spent a few days. They can plant a tree or flowers, they can carve the trees or do everything that a gardener does day after day.

5.Reveal the secrets of the traditional cuisine
     The guests can help so they can participate in making foods. They have the possibility to bake bread, porket and other traditional dishes in the oven that were or are condumed by the locals nowadays .
     In the marmite and grill which are in the yards the guests can make their dishes without helping from base bought from the locals.

6.Playing house
     It is useful for the parents who arrive here with children, they can leave them there and the parents can go attend other programs. The children feel good here, because there are programs for them so they aren’t bored until their parents come back from hiking or until their program is finished.

7.Watching animals
      A significant number of the brown bear live in Hargita county. In the nearby forest we can find a number of other species, such as: wolves, wild – boar, and lynx. Tourists can observe these animals, from a safe distance.

8.Longer and shorter hiking in the mountains – for request
     The tourists have the possibility of hiking at the catchment near Zetelaka and they can climb the Hargita. (1801 m)
Near the catchment of Zetelaka they can go carting, horse riding, watching animals. But the tourists can go on boasting, and those who want to relax can enjoy bathing and sun – bathing.

There is an opportunity for cycling, so whoever wants to can go on bicycle tours. Renting a bicycle is 30 ron/bicycle/day.

In a 50 km parameter the tourists can visit the sights of different settlements of the region.
On need, a mini bus for nine people can be rented, and it can be driven with a B – category driver’s licence.




9.Székelyudvarhely – Székelykeresztúr – Segesvár
     Székelyudvarhely – the oldest monument was built in the 13th Century: the Jesus chapel. The Bud castle and Székely támadt castle (Csonka castle) are the oldest castles, but they were renovated. The tourists can visit the Franciscan temple, the convent, the Calvinistic temple, the Catholic temple and the Parish temple or other sights they are interested in.

10.Székelykeresztúr – the Museum of Molnár István, Catholic temple, Calvinistic temple and Unitarian temple.
     Segesvár – the historical centre, Clock Tower – it was built in the 14. Century, convent temple, the old county house, in front of which stands the bust of Petőfi, a famous, talented Hungarian poet.

11.Farkaslaka – Korond – Parajd
     Farkaslaka – the house and sepulclur of Tamási Áron. He was a Kossúth awarded writer, he is known as a folk writer.

     Korond – the ceramic made by the locals – tourist can see the folk objects and they have the possibility to buy them.

     Parajd – there is a mine with curative effects.

12.Csíkszereda – Csíksomlyó – Gyímesek
     Csíkszereda – the oldest monument of the city is the Mikó castle which has renaissance aspects and on the right side of the castle is the court – house and the Millenium temple, which was built in 2001.

     Csíksomlyó – in the Eastern part of Csíkszereda, ever since 1567 it has been place of Pentecost pilgrimage, in the centre of which we can see the sculpture representing the woman dressed in the Sun.

     Gyímesek – the tourists can get acquinted with the traditions and culture of the "csángók"
